The Business Development Manager will be a motivated, self-starter and independent person joining our ForBuild Construction team to help us expand existing client relationships and develop new relationships with architects, owners, general contractors/construction managers and other industry partners. The business development manager will help build a stable pipeline of project opportunities for consideration by the company. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, has a strong business development background, maintains thorough knowledge of the local DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia)  real estate and construction industry, and is capable of pursuing and maintaining long-term client relationships. 

Business Development Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the business lead to manage and grow the business
  • Participate in strategic business planning; developing strategic positioning plan for company and  project pursuits to win work
  • Identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate new business  opportunities.
  • Utilize and maintain CRM database, industry contacts and relationships to generate project leads  and all business development activities
  • Track bid volume, lead conversion rate and cost to acquire new business using CRM software
  • Manage existing accounts to ensure client satisfaction and on-going business relationships
  • Create and present effective presentations to clients
  • Promotes ForBuild’s value to clients by providing comprehensive DIRTT solutions to support their business and operational objectives
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge and a solution that matches the customer’s project challenge  to provide value to the customer
  • Provide outstanding service and value through collaborative problem-solving and timely response to client requests. Research services that appropriately address  client’s needs, budget and timelines
  • Research and analyze key economic factors that may influence market activity within specific  niche markets or geographic areas
  • Provide ongoing progress updates on new business development activities and other key indicators to the management tea.
  • Work with and transfer business leads to the ForBuild sales, design and project management  teams
  • Work with Marketing team to generate collateral such as customer decks and content for  ForBuild’s market presence
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with subcontractors, general contractors, brokers, PM's, &  developers to increase market exposure of ForBuild
  • Maintain memberships in professional organizations and attend other association meetings to stay informed of the market conditions, current discussions and to establish relationships 

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Marketing, Business,  or other related field is preferred but not necessary.
  • Minimum five years business development experience in construction, engineering,                  real-estate development, or similar related-industry in the DMV market
  • Proven track record of success in developing, maintaining and expanding client base 
  • Excellent initiative and interpersonal communications skills
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills

Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of interior commercial construction
  • Experience with modular products (walls, floors, power/data, etc.) a plus
  • Ability to read/interpret construction docs, bids and specifications
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to foster and leverage relationships; comfortable interfacing with clients, architects, general contractors, vendors and internal staff
  • Must be extremely organized, with good time management skills and the ability to work  independently
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills with a passion to provide solutions to client needs
  • Excellent communication skills via email, face-to-face, and over the phone
  • Must be results oriented with focus on accomplishments and long and short-term goals
  • Maintain continuing education as required
